A BRIEF HISTORY OF SIMA INC.--
Founded in 1983 In 1983, SIMA
started serving the law library community in the
Washington, DC area by offering high-quality
loose-leaf filing services.
When technology advanced, began offering library-automation
software As technology
advanced in the 1980s and 1990s, SIMA began
offering library-automation programs designed by
the company's general manager, an experienced professional law librarian.
From the beginning, SIMA software was extremely user
friendly, full featured and highly affordable.
Separate library-catalog,
serials (including acquisitions and accounting) and
interlibrary-loan programs were followed by fully
integrated library systems.
Became one of the library community's first Application
Service Providers In 1999, SIMA introduced its innovative SIMAnet
system that gave customers direct access via
a Web browser to their SIMA library programs
installed on SIMA's Web servers,
thus becoming one of the very first Application
Service Providers among library vendors.
Introduced advanced integrated library
systems In 2006
SIMA introduced its newest version of the
popular SIMA Camelot Integrated Library System, a
totally Web-based program called SIMA Camelot
Online.
Is now a leader in online union lists SIMA has been a
leader in providing library associations with
highly effective online union lists. More than
200 libraries in Washington, DC, New York City and Dallas are now using
online union lists powered by the SIMA Camelot Integrated Library System.
